Molas coloridas | Colourful wooden pegs

Que acham da ideia de animar as convencionais molas da roupa? Podem ter destinos diferentes daquele que lhes é comum. Por que não colocar no frigorífico com a ajuda de um magnético? Ou juntar umas quantas num fio para fazer uma grinalda? Colorir molas é simples. É preciso molas, fita-cola dupla, papel bonito, lápis de cor e tesouras.

What do you think about the ideia of giving the conventional wooden pegs a bit of a twist? They can have other purpose besides the traditional one. How about making some magnets for the fridge? Or assemble a few in a string to make a garland? It's easy. You'll need wooden pegs, double-sided tape, some nice paper, color pencils and scissors.

1. Pinta-se os lados da mola.
2.Pega-se na fita e no papel.
3. Cola-se a fita à parte de trás do papel.
4. Tira-se a parte que tapa o outro lado da fita.
5. Cola-se a fita nos lados da mola que não estão pintados.
6. Apara-se o papel que fica a mais e está pronto!

1. Colour the sides of the pegs with the pencils.
2. Get the tape and the paper.
3. Stick one strip of tape onto the back of the paper and press.
4. Peel the tape.
5. Stick the strip to the sides of the peg that have no color.
6. Snip the extra paper and you're done!

Carimbos | Stamps

Tenho andado a experimentar fazer carimbos com borrachas. Não é muito fácil mas é divertido! Para encontrar carimbos realmente bonitos, vejam este blog e este.

Páscoa | Easter

Aqui fica o primeiro trabalho da Francisca e do Tomás. Deixei-os rabiscar uma folha com lápis de cera. Depois recortei ovos e fiz uma grinalda para o quarto deles.

Here is the first art work of Francisca and Tomás. I let them make some doodles in a sheet with crayons and then I cut it in egg shape. Then I assembled this garland for their room.

O tapete | The rug

Cinco meses, mais coisa menos coisa, foi o tempo que me levou a acabar (por agora) o tapete para o quarto dos bebés. Usei tecidos coloridos que compro aqui. Cortei-os em tiras e cosi as tiras para fazer uma espécie de fio. Ficou colorido e deu um ar mais acolhedor ao quarto. A Francisca e o Tomás ainda não perceberam para que serve o tapete e andam com ele de um lado para o outro...

Five months, take or leave, was the time it took me to finish (for now) this rug for the babies room. I used colorful fabric that I buy here. I cut all the fabric in bands and sew them all together to make a kind of thread. It's colorful and the room has a more cozy touch. Francisca and Tomás still don't get the use of it so they go around the house dragging the rug...

Móbile de passarinhos | Birdie garland

Fiquei com alguns passarinhos depois de recortar os marcadores de página. Aproveitei para fazer um móbile. Usei corda e contas para alegrar.

I had some birdies left from the bookmarks. So I decided to make a small garland. I used twine and some beads to add some color.

Peixes | Fishes

Comprei uma daquelas paletes para fazer gelo com a forma de peixes. Enchi com gesso, deixei secar e é este o resultado. Usei corda natural para fazer um anel para poder ser utilizado como argola de guardanapos. Bom para almoços primaveris!

I got this ice tray in a shape of little fishes. I put some clay in the moulds, let it dry and this is the result. Then I used some natural rope to make a ring so it can be used in the napkins. It looks good  on a spring table!

Use os retalhos | Use your scraps

Tenho este hábito (ainda não sei se bom ou mau...) de guardar todos os bocadinho de tecido que sobram dos projetos que faço. Tenho, por isso, uma caixa cheia de bocadinhos de tecido e não é fácil ver-me livre deles. Não os posso deitar fora... Às vezes consigo utilizar retalhos em alguns projetos como este saco ou este estojo, mas nem sempre é fácil.

Desta vez, lembrei-me de fazer um marcador de páginas. É muito fácil de fazer! É também uma ideia engraçada para fazer com os miúdos! Ora vejam.

I have this habit (I still don't know if it's a good or a bad one) of saving all the tiny bits of fabric from the projects I make. So I have this box full of fabric scraps and it's not easy to get rid of them. I can't throw them out... Sometimes I use fabric scraps to make some projects like this bag or this pencil case, but it's not always easy.

This time, I decided to make a bookmark. It´s very easy! It's also a good idea to make with the kids! Let's see.

Material: 

2 retângulos de papel forte | 2 rectangles of strong paper

1 pedaço de tecido | 1 small piece of fabric

tesoura e cola | cutter and glue

1 pedaço de fio | a small string

Na parte de trás de um dos retângulos desenha-se a figura que se quer. Eu desenhei uma borboleta. É necessário ter cuidado para que a figura não fique muito perto das margens para haver espaço para colar o tecido.

Corta-se a figura e põe-se cola para colar o tecido. O tecido deve ser colocado com a parte da frente virada para baixo. 

Deixa-se secar durante algum tempo e depois cola-se o outro retângulo de papel para tapar a parte de trás do marcador. O marcador fica mais direitinho se for colocado em baixo de algum objeto pesado para secar.

On the back of one of the rectangles draw the picture you want. I drew a butterfly. You need to be careful not to cut the picture too near to the edge. You need some space to glue the fabric.

Cut out the shape and put some glue to hold the fabric. The fabric should be facing down.

Let it dry for some time and then glue the other paper rectangle so you can cover the back of the bookmark.

You'l,l have a better finish if you put something heavy on top of the bookmark and let it dry.

Depois de bem seco, é necessário fazer um furo na parte de cima do marcador para colocar o fio. Escolhi um fio com a cor semelhante à do papel mas podia ser vermelho para combinar com o tecido. Também arredondei os cantos. E está pronto a ser usado.

When it's dry, you'll need to make a hole in the top of the bookmark to put the string. I chose one that has a similar color to the paper but a red one would be nice too. I also rounded the corners. And it's ready to use.

Cabides | Hangers

Ontem comprei estes cabides numa loja aqui em Díli. Têm um ar de azulejo português antigo que me agrada muito. Não tenho nenhuma parede suficientemente bonita para os colocar mas gostei tanto deles...

Yesterday I bought these hangers in a store here in Díli.  They have this old portuguese tile look that I really like. I don't have a good enough wall to hang them but I just liked them so much....
